Collective :: Becoming Whole.

What happens when you are forced to start over? When everything seemingly falls apart and you are left groundless, seeking anything that might remind you what it is to have joy, and just trying desperately to feel “whole”… well, I don’t know what you would do; I baked.

In 2022 I found myself doing a 180. I was engaged to an incredible man, had a stable career, a beautiful home in my dream city, and was living what I thought was “the dream”. But as the story goes, I was miserable, empty, and lost. I’ll stop here, because this is not a sob story, nor is it about me… Long story short, I left it all in the pursuit of joy, becoming “whole” again; embarking on a 2 year sabbatical that healed my deepest wounds, exposed my darkest fears, and ultimately birthed Collective Confections. .

  • Collective; meaning ‘the entire whole”.

    A cake is a collective of ingredients—artfully yet scientifically combined to create a single, tantalizing, emotion-evoking work of art. But what happens when those ingredients aren’t just chosen for the sake of making cake, but instead selected as a reflection of a moment in time, a tribute to the people and places that make them possible, and a pursuit of something greater? I became fixated and fascinated by this; it became my mission, my mantra, my art…I call it “Creating for the Collective”.

    For those that mill the cacao, the beautiful lands and wise trees that provide the maple syrup, those whose heritage and love language are rooted in growing almonds, and the tried and true cultural heirlooms we call recipes. Every element comes together in harmony—evoking joy, pleasure, nostalgia, and nourishment. From start to finish, every ingredient matters, every person matters. Simple. Intentional. Thoughtfully chosen. Honoring the people, the process, and the purpose behind it.

    This is more than just cake, cookies and cupcakes. This is Collective Confections.

  • Committing to the collective aka: “the whole” is a huge undertaking (financially, energetically, creatively) but I promise you can taste and most importantly, feel the difference. I intentionally and emphatically use: organic, fair trade, lactose free, refined sugar free, gluten free, local (when possible), and in season ingredients. All nut butters and jams are made in house. I source my nuts, rosewater, tahini, and adaptogens from only the finest herbalists and local suppliers of whom I have personal relationships. The honey I use is lovingly sourced in So Cal. Following the guidance of the land, flavors are determined by what is in season, and almost all produce is sourced from my local farmers market. I make my own sprinkles, as well as create my own food colorings using adaptogenic powders made from plants, veggies and herbs intended to heal and uplift.

    I DON’T and WON’T calculate calories/macros or use processed protein powders. I will NEVER use processed sweeteners (Stevia, Erythritol & Xylitol, Monk fruit with Erythritol etc).
